By simply putting a smartphone into each boat it is possible with the Ludum Live app for the coach to see the data live in the launch or on their bike.

Equipment needed:

  1. Smartphone - ideally a smartphone with Dual GPS (L1 and L5). Not all phones have this. Please lookup (Dual frequency GPS (L1+L5). Here you can look up all the smartphones that have dual GPS

  1. SIM card in each smartphone - a session about 2 hours long will use about 5MB data

  2. Tablet or laptop connected to the internet to view the live data

Process

  • Download the Ludum Live app onto each Smartphone

  • Create a session in Ludum

  • Create the crews you want to track

  • Scan the QR code generated on the website

  • Setup the session so that the phone is setup properly on the boat

    • Stroke Detection

    • Streaming on

    • 1,3,5 stroke average

    • Phone orientation

    • Phone Inclination

    • user direction

    • Auto continue

  • Connect Bluetooth heart rate monitor if you are coaching a single sculler

Run the Phone

Press the play button to start the phone and press the stop button when the session is complete. The data will then all be saved to the session as well as being displayed live during the session.

View the Live Data

Open the website on the session you have created in Ludum and simply select the Live Results Tab in the window.
